"I sing for me..." is something that is said in the chorus. Everyone has their own personal escape, something that's only for themselves. Nick doesn't look to please other people with his singing, nor would he consider make singing a full-time career. At least, that's not what he wants right now. Notice that when he sings the line "...and I won't stand here and pretend that I don't have all that I need." Now I know that this does come across as selfish thinking, but let's be honest, we all tend to be a little selfish- it's part of human nature. It doesn't make Nick a bad person for not wanting to go with the world wants in terms of singing and making a career out of that. He has a job, and it's one that he loves very much. I'l admit, I have not met Nick in person, but this song plus "Like a Boy" from his new EP gives me a great deal of insight as to how he handles the pressure of being a YouTuber.
The main lesson that I've gathered from this song is learning to be content with what you have. Contentment isn't so much about settling for less, but more about being happy with what's currently in front of you and making the most of that. You don't always have to keep reaching or asking for more because not everything in life is a prize. Once you realize that, you'll know what it means to be satisfied and you won't feel restless.
