Album Spotlight: The Original High by Adam Lambert

Even though all the songs on this album are great, I thought that I would just break down a few of my favorites. And if you haven't listened to any of the songs off Adam's new album, then you should definitely give it a listen. You won't regret it!

1. Rumors- I think it's safe to say that we all know what this song is about, but once you find yourself in that position, the lyrics start to hit home. "Why is everyone so against us dating each other?" "No one but us will truly understand how we feel about each other." "You're in no place to judge this person I'm seeing. You don't even know him/her!" Adam and Tove Lo did a great job singing this song together, and I'd say that the chorus is just so memorable and catchy. This song is definitely something that I could sing in a karaoke bar if I wanted to.

2. Shame (Bonus Track)- The vocalization in this track is just remarkable. Even though it may not show off every inch of Adam's talent, I do think that he's great at enunciating his words. As for the lyrics, I can definitely say that I've felt this way a couple times. No one likes to feel unappreciated or thrown under the bus.

3. There I Said It- Now I can say from experience that one of the easiest things to do in a relationship is losing yourself and thinking that you need to tell your partner what he/she wants to hear instead of telling them what they NEED to hear. Losing yourself though is probably one of the most common things in life, whether if you're in a relationship or not. But as Adam says in the song, "I won't apologize to you anymore, 'cause I'm a grown-ass man."

4. Underground- I think we all know that moment when we realize that our partner becomes our everything. You're hooked and can't get enough of it. Some people call that love, and others would call it infatuation. Either way, you know that once you're in that phase of the relationship, it's hard to come out of it.

5. Lucy- This song has a story of its own that's self-explanatory, but I still love it so much. Lucy is someone who has a wild heart but didn't think that anything bad would happen to her. But then she met someone and that person turned against her, so now the only thing left for her to do is run away.

6. The Original High- I think what makes this song so amazingly different is the instrumental arrangement. This track as well as Shame have that same ethnic feel. I can't put a finger on what instrument it is, though.... Anyways, the lyrics to this song do seem to be a little sexual, but here's how I see it: Remembering that first time, and wanting to experience again the high you felt when you and your partner were madly in love and couldn't keep your hands off each other. Of course, no other moment can compare to your first time, but I can understand the feeling of losing that spark and wondering if your relationship is slowly fading.
